Hamish McLaren – counter-tenor, the Halcyon String Quartet and Glen Dempsey – piano.

A recent graduate of St John’s College, Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music, London, counter-tenor Hamish McLaren grew up at Bodnant in the Conwy Valley. He has recently toured South America & Russia with the Monteverdi Choir. In April and June 2020 he will sing the role of Alfonso in the early Handel opera Fernando, Re di Castiglia for Opera Settecento, performances in the London Handel Festival and the Halle Handel Festival in Germany.
In Rhyl, Hamish will perform with the viola player Nathalie Green-Buckley, the Halcyon String Quartet, and pianist Glen Dempsey, who is now Assistant Director of Music at Ely Cathedral. Their varied programme of music from the Baroque period to the late Romantic will include works by: Purcell, Handel, Leonardo Vinci, Gluck, Robert and Clara Schumann, Mendelssohn, Wolf and Frank Bridge.
