A Bit of a Show

Tir Morfa pupils in “A Bit of a Show”

Children from Ysgol Tir Morfa, Blessed Edwards Jones High School, Rhyl High School and Ysgol Mair took part in a musical extravaganza “A Bit of a Show” in Rhyl Town Hall on Tuesday 26 June. The event, in front of an audience of over 400 for the repeat performances of songs from the shows, also starred the North Wales section of Only Boys Aloud. The evening, which was compered by Eleri Watkins and choreographed by Claire Tranmer, was the culmination of a month-long series of workshops in the schools sponsored by Rhyl Music Club with financial support from the Gwynt y Môr Community Fund.

Artist Details

We welcome back for our Christmas concert this talented Wrexham-based choir.

Their most recent competition success was at Bangor (N.I.) where they swept the board at the 2011 International Choral Festival, and their latest big concert appearance was at the 2012 Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod in a performance of Karl Jenkins’ The Peacemakers.

Their programme will follow our usual tradition of having both Christmas and non-seasonal music.

Presenting a seasonal compromise between a traditional concert and a Christmas celebration gives us two concerts in one!

Nigel Shaw brings with him his choir which has had excellent reviews from the Chester Festival and was invited back to Urbino to perform last summer.

The first half of the evening is devoted to a complete song cycle of Schumann’s Dichterliebe which is based on Heine’s poems about the poet’s love, from ecstasy to despair.

After mince pies there will be a selection of Christmas music from the choir.
