- Pavel Fischer
I went, with John Williamson, to RNCM for a special evening and came across this quartet; you may recognise one of its members because she came to Rhyl for a summer concert with a trio.
I heard her again recently at the Gold Medal event and am now delighted to have invited her String Quartet to visit us.
Many will know Janacek’s Intimate Letters Quartet but I doubt if another Czech composer, Pavel Fischer, will mean much to most of us.
Fischer, born 1965, founded the Skampa String Quartet and has written music based around Moravian folk themes in addition to his composing and teaching work.
Fischer has taught at RNCM and I suspect our Quartet mem-bers tonight will have worked on the Quartet with the composer himself.
