Alexander Janiczek

Artist Details

  • Alexander Janiczek was accompanied by renowned pianist partner
  • Llŷr Williams.

North Wales’ own internationally acclaimed pianist joined the Austrian virtuoso in what has been described as a “perfectly attuned duo”.

Llŷr has become an artist of world-class significance and he and Alexander have been performing together in chamber music concerts and as a duo for many years across Europe.

After making their debut at the Wigmore Hall they have been invited to return there and will also perform in other major venues such as the Mozarteum in Salzburg where Alexander’s musical career began.

We were privileged to have not just one, but two, artists of such outstanding musical calibre with us in Rhyl.

Clare Hammond

Clare had gained her Doctorate in music since her last visit and appeared at seven festivals across Europe in 2014 so this was a most welcome return by a multi-talented performer and broadcaster.

Her programme included:

  • Couperin – Selection from Pieces de Clavecin, 6e ordre,
  • Chin – 3 Etudes,
  • Schubert – Sonata in A major, D664,
  • Lyapunov – 3 etudes from the 12 Etudes d’Execution Transcendente,
  • Chopin – Selection from Etudes Op.25,
  • Kapustin – 3 Studies in Different Intervals

David Shaw Quartet

David brought the cream of Chethams for a delightfully varied musical menu from a young but highly talented quartet.

The acclaimed pianist Yuanfan Yang, who was the youngest of all finalists in the 2010 BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, joined them in the Elgar quintet.
