Home Page | Current Season | Next Season About Us Our History Founded in 1947 the Club has enjoyed more than half a century of success. The Club began life in a restaurant but then moved to the Town Hall where it has remained, apart from a brief spell when the Hall was being renovated. Our President, Chairman and Concert Organiser We are pleased to have the world-renowned pianist John Lill CBE as our President. The Club Chairman is Mr John Bennett of Prestatyn. The Concert Organiser and Publicity Officer is myself, Derek Bartley, to whom contact should be made. A current Brochure or an Application Form for membership will be provided on request. The Concerts
Concerts are free to those 16 and under if accompanied by an adult. Non-members can attend individual concerts with tickets at £8, which are obtainable at the door. All seats are unnumbered and there is no need to pre-book. All concerts commence 7.30pm. The Club receives support from the Arts Council of Wales Lottery Unit and is a member of Making Music. The Club also maintains warm relations with the North Wales International Music Festival, St. Asaph, the St. Asaph Choral Society, and the Tremeirchion Bach Choir. There is also close collaboration with other North Wales Music Clubs and short tours are sometimes arranged enabling artists to perform to a wide audience across the Principality. Emphasis is placed on youth and aspiring musicians and one of the highlight concerts of each season is the Young Musicians Concert, given by some of the outstanding young musicians of the locality. In addition, the Club maintains the Muriel Lewis Award, named after the wife of our Founder, Michael Lewis MBE. This Award is presented occasionally to local young musicians with exceptional talent who hope to make a career in music. Other Events Not everything is of a serious musical nature. we are a sociable Club with a pleasant Hot Pot Supper towards the end of the year. It is clear, therefore, that there is much to be gained by being a member of Rhyl Music Club. Once you have read of our musical offerings please enquiries so that we can offer advice and comments which might allow you, a concert goer, to enliven your winter evening, or you, a promoter, to plan, and perhaps enhance, your own Club's season or, if a performer or agent, to discuss future engagements. |
